- You need 2 protectors for a modem. You need phone line surge protection
- and power line surge protection. The phone line surge protection should be
- near the modem and the power line surge protection should be near the
- modem also. I live in the country and had USRobotics replace several
- modems that got fried. Now I have secondary phone line protection near
- the entrance panel and also at the modem. I also have a large whole house
- surge protector in the main breaker box and also at the computer where the
- modem is plugged in. I haven't blown any modems since.
